The Future Is Here, And Your Router Is Going To Look Amazing

Forget about your resolutions. It’s CES week!

Major corporations, startups, and every size company in between flocks to Las Vegas the first week in January to unveil their newest and hottest gadgets. Several Ponies, myself included, have been to CES, and we’ll all tell you it’s equal parts exhausting and exciting. From a marketer’s perspective, it’s challenging to break through the clutter at CES, given the sheer volume of products fighting for attention, but the best (or wackiest) innovations always rise to the top.

Here are the announcements from CES Day 1 that caught my eye (that router, though!):

Smart Bed – Sleep Number 360 Bed
The new mattress senses what you’re doing, and adjusts automatically. Per DesignBoom: “..responsive air technology adjusts the bed’s comfort to match each user’s changing sleeping position. working in real time, two air chambers gently morph to each person’s side, back or stomach profiles. furthermore, the smart furniture features automatic snore detection technology that simultaneously adjusts to remedy the noise with a more ideal body position. Additionally, it intelligently learns the user’s bedtime routine and warms the foot of the bed automatically in order to encourage them to fall asleep faster.” Yes. Yes. YES.

Triple-Display Laptop – Razer’s Project Valerie
At Fast Horse, we don’t have desks. Which is great, but the one thing I miss about my old desk set-up was my trusty monitor. I’d plug my laptop in all the time and work from both screens so I wasn’t having to go back and forth between documents on the small screen of my laptop. Razer has introduced a laptop prototype that has a main screen, and then a second and third (!) screen which pop out of both sides of the main screen. Amazing!

Printer/Camera/Video In One – Pop by Polaroid
I love taking pictures, but I’m terrible about getting anything printed. I also love my DSLR camera, but wish it took video. Sounds like my first-world problems might have been solved by Polaroid. Yesterday, they introduced Pop, a cute little camera that will shoot 1080p video and 20-megapixel photos and also print them on the spot (even with the signature Polaroid border). This modern take on the company’s old favorite will arrive on shelves in time for holiday 2017.

Instagrammable Router – Norton Core
Norton, the name synonymous with security software, just introduced its first home Wi-Fi router, dubbed “Core.” And, shocker: it’s the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Who cares that it keeps your entire smart house safe and sound from hackers — just look at it. I can’t believe no one has thought of making this home staple look like modern décor before. Thank you, Norton. And yes, my software’s updated. Stop asking.
