The month of September has been a busy one for Fast Horse client Faribault Woolen Mill Co. Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s new with Minnesota’s favorite flourishing style brand.
First, a mill employee celebrated an astounding 60 years with the company. Mary Boudreau started working at the mill when she was just 18 years old, and has no plans to retire any time soon. Part of what I love about Mary’s story is that when she embarked on her storied career in 1954, the ladies in her department warned she’d never last. Now, six decades later, she leads her department, still works eight-hour days and serves as a walking historian of the mill. You can read more about Mary’s story at KARE 11 and the Faribault Daily News.
This past weekend, Faribault Woolen Mill hosted a two-day tent sale featuring discounts on thousands of items, including discontinued products, overstocks and “seconds.” Because every Faribault product is made in a unique, craft-like way, some products turn out a little different than others. But every item that makes its way onto retailer shelves needs to be uniform – so these “misweaves,” or throws with slight color variations, were offered at a discount. Personally, I think these are in some ways even more special because they’re one-of-a-kind. If you missed the sale, don’t fret. The tent sale will be an annual event, and you can always check out a small selection of seconds in the Faribault Mill gift shop down in . . . Faribault. (You had to have seen that coming!)
Last but certainly not least, Target announced an exclusive collection in partnership with Faribault Woolen Mill last week. The collection of limited-edition bags, scarves, throws and more will be available on Target.com starting November 2, just in time for the holiday season. My favorite items from the line are the infinity scarves (a first-ever for the brand!) and the large weekender bag – I’ll be scooping those up for sure!
The Target partnership is one of many exciting partnerships that the mill has been involved with recently, including a stunning throw with the ultimate cool-kid fashion house Rag & Bone.
Faribault Woolen Mill is such an inspiring brand to work with, and they’re keeping us busy! Stay tuned for more exciting news from Faribault Woolen Mill Co. soon –with the company’s 150th anniversary next year, there’s much to celebrate!
