Earlier this month, I was able to head out to Arizona for my birthday — and I got to spend one afternoon touring Taliesin West, a Frank Lloyd Wright building,
This beautiful campus is still home to the Frank Lloyd Write School of Architecture, and hosts the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, but offers hourly tours to the public. If you’re out in the Pheonix area, it’s definitely worth a visit.
The campus began being build in the mid-1930’s. When Wright was about 70 years hold, he and a number of his students would head out here from Wisconsin. They built the structure by hand with wooden molds, and rocks from the ground.
The campus is filled with beauty and architectural genius — from the acoustics in the cabaret, to the breezeway through the center of a building. It’s a great experience for people of all interests.
