Diet Coke, Fast Horse Celebrate Fashion and Design

Fall always feels like a good time for a wardrobe refresh. You trade the flip flops for boots, the tank tops for sweaters and the sundresses for jeans. Just in time, Fast Horse is currently helping Diet Coke revamp its own look by re-introducing a can design for the brand.

First introduced last fall, when Fast Horse helped Diet Coke launch the new look as a seasonal design, the brand is bringing back its cropped logo can design based on popular demand. Ask, and you shall receive!

The cropped design features the “D” and the “k”

To celebrate the new cropped logo design, Diet Coke partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to host a design contest for students. The contest, the Diet Coke Young Designer Challenge, invited students to submit a T-shirt design that was inspired by the refreshed look of Diet Coke. To up the ante, not only would they win a scholarship, but the winning design would be sold in Target stores and the contest would be judged by three of the biggest fashion designers out there — Zac Posen, Cynthia Rowley and L’Wren Scott.

Earlier this week, Allison and I were in New York, where we worked with Posen and Rowley to announce the winner of the Diet Coke Young Designer Challange, Gustavo Alonso, through a series of interviews with regional and national media. Keeping the momentum going into New York Fashion Week, Diet Coke will be celebrating the winning T-shirt design and refreshed can design at one of the hottest fashion week parties, “Glamour Live presented by Diet Coke.”

Fast Horse will be on the ground at the party, but, if you can’t make it, you can get a glimpse into the party by following @DietCokeUS on Twitter. The Diet Coke social media team will be live tweeting the entire party next Wednesday.

You can find the refreshed look of Diet Coke on store shelves beginning in September, and you can find the limited edition T-shirt design at Target stores starting Sept. 2. Having stared at both the T-shirt and can design way too much over the past few months, I can say without a doubt that these are really fantastic designs!
