I consider myself a fairly practical shopper. I don’t typically purchase something unless I just love it, which often leads to the old cycle: I like something, I don’t buy it, I think about it for days, and I go back and try it on again. Because, more often than not, I just don’t remember what it looked like when I wore it, and there’s no friend present for a second opinion. Which, clearly, is not the most efficient use of my time. Enter Neiman Marcus’s innovative new Memory Mirror – saving shoppers time and changing the retail experience as we know it.
The retail industry is no stranger to technology, and we’ve seen more and more brands incorporate “smart fashion” into their businesses. The latest development from Neiman Marcus is quite brilliant, as it’s an added incentive for shoppers to visit the brick-and-mortar stores versus shopping online.
Neiman Marcus’s Memory Mirror records an eight-second video of shoppers, giving them a 360-degree view of how the potential purchase looks on. Even better, customers can record more than one video and compare outfits side-by-side. The best part? You can share the videos and photos with friends if you need a second, or third, opinion. If you’re the type that needs 100-plus opinions, you can share the outfits via Facebook for a more public vote.

Currently the mirror is testing in select California stores, with a Dallas rollout slated next. So, while the rest of the country waits for a magical mirror, we’ll just have to settle for those awkward dressing room selfies.
