George Fiddler

Client-Relationship Manager

Joined Fast Horse: 2009

Professional Skills:
If you want a digital strategy that incorporates sports marketing or pop culture, I just might be your guy. I play a significant role in the social media, blogger outreach and content-marketing work that we do to market our clients and our agency.

Path to Fast Horse:
I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2008 after trying to write the next “Good Will Hunting” screenplay while earning my B.A. in studies in cinema and media culture. My work experience consists of marketing internships at an Hispanic media company, an independent film non-profit, a student newspaper, and Canterbury Park, if you consider trying relentlessly to make my way to the World Series of Poker for five years an internship.

Community Involvement:
I volunteer for the Minneapolis and St. Paul Film Society. I also serve on the Ad Fed of Minnesota’s membership committee.

Key Insight:

If you’re not at least a little terrified about a new idea, then keep thinking.

The List: 5 Shoe Commercials That Made Me Want To Work In Marketing

1. Kevin Garnett’s “Streetball” spot (2001)
2. Nike: Penny Hardaway (second favorite player ever) meets Lil Penny (1996)
3. Reebok: Dominique Wilkins shows off his Pumps (1989)
4. Nike: Spike Lee and Michael Jordan team up for “Hang Time” to market the Air Jordan III (1991)
5. Converse: Larry Johnson dresses as his alter-ego “Grandmama” (1994)

My Hometown (And Best Thing About It):
Minneapolis! Best thing: Lake Calhoun in July. Worst best thing: The self-deprecating humor that comes from decades of failure by our sports franchises.

I’m Famous For:
Being that guy who may have defined how to be persistent as hell without being annoying during a job search. I also once kind of tore my ACL in the office. That was unfortunate.

Very Few People Know That I:
Was once re-tweeted by Chad OchoCinco. And that I could probably retire and live comfortably if I sold my collection of baseball memorabilia and original “Wizard of Oz” books tomorrow. But my mom wouldn’t be happy about it.

George's Professional Details

As a client-relationship manager at Fast Horse, Fiddler largely supports program launches, special events and new product introductions. Fiddler has proven to be a whiz at media relations and social media marketing; his insights on using Twitter, Facebook and developing content for blogs have added value for some of our largest clients.

Fiddler received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota in 2008 and held internships at the Minnesota Daily newspaper; Contacto Integrated Media, a Minneapolis-based bilingual media company; and IFP MN, Minnesota’s independent film company.

Working with these non-profit organizations, Fiddler discovered a passion for developing new ideas and figuring out ways to get the word out about them to different audiences. He was also able to take advantage of his Spanish at Contacto, where the entire staff were native Spanish speakers.

Fiddler was born and raised in Minneapolis and thoroughly enjoys working in his hometown. Outside Fast Horse, Fiddler likes running around Minneapolis lakes, drinking Minnesota beer, and watching and arguing about Minnesota sports teams.
