Professional Strengths: I’m a wordsmith at heart, always writing for my audience whether I’m blogging, writing news and feature stories, or crafting traditional public relations materials. I have experience planning events, as well as developing and building brand engagement with social media. My outgoing personality, creativity and initiative have served me well. I’m chomping at the bit for any challenge that comes my way.

Path to Fast Horse: I’ve had a hand in it all, which is partly due to the fact I’ve been working since I was 14. My younger years were spent personalizing piggy banks, hosting at a lakeside restaurant and being a nanny. Architecture consumed my freshman year at the University of Minnesota, but I soon stumbled upon my passion for writing and communications. I studied abroad in London for a semester and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English. After college, I held internships in editing, public relations, marketing and publishing. I landed on Fast Horse’s stoop during a networking event.

Community Involvement: My community involvement started when I helped organize Interfaith Outreach’s Back-To-School program at age 17. Throughout the years, I’ve tutored students at Homework ‘n’ Hoops, taught English at the Franklin Learning Center, and served as the publicity and outreach editor for Ivory Tower, the University of Minnesota’s undergraduate literary magazine. I’m always looking for more ways to get involved in the Twin Cities.

Key Insight

Don’t limit yourself; go beyond what’s expected.

The List: My Top Five Failed Attempts At Being An Athlete
1. The treadmill travesty. Last year, while running, my iPod fell out of the cup holder and off the treadmill. My only thought was, “I need that.” I bent down to pick up my iPod, forgetting that I was on a moving treadmill, and fell off. My ego wasn’t the only thing bruised that day.
2. The softball smackdown. I was up to bat and swung at the first pitch. The next thing I knew my coach was on the ground holding his broken sunglasses. It gets better when, eight years later, I found out that he is the father of a good friend and still remembers me as “the girl who broke my sunglasses.”
3. The soccer standoff. It was between me and a 25-year-old man. Needless to say, he got there first and I got a soccer ball in the face.
4. The trial of track and field. I thought that I would try my hand at an individualized sport, obviously after numerous failed attempts at team sports. My season was ended after three weeks of practice when I pulled my hip flexor. I got the hint that team sports weren’t the problem.
5. I was a goblet in a dance production of “Beauty and the Beast.” Fail.

My Hometown (And Best Thing About It): Minnetonka. The lake, hands down.

I’m Famous For: My complete and utter lack of coordination. See list avoe. Sadly, I still haven’t “grown out of it.”

Very Few People Know That I: Was deathly afraid of my American Girl dolls throughout my childhood due to R.L. Stine’s “Night of the Living Dummy.” They have piercing, blinking eyes. Can you blame me?
